Marshall 1959 Transformers - Help

Post by vahid_vs » Sun May 18, 2014 8:15 pm

Hi,
I'm building a Marshall 1959 with specs of a '74 one and I have some questions about transformers and chokes, I already searched internet and forum but I found too many stuffs and I got confused, so I'd really appreciate it if you help me with this:
which power transformer is the best choice for having 490v plate voltage (is it 490v at idle or under load?)?
which output transformer is the best choice for 4 x 6550 tubes?
and which chock is the best choice for this amp?
thanks

My 74 has a dagnall t3556 pt and a t2373 ot all had c1999 chokes I think. Most people like the c1998 ot over the 2373 or 2668. There are fine replicas available of all of them. My 74 has around 480 on the plates w the original t3556. Hope this helps

Output transformer won't care between 6550s and el34s. The originals didn't anyway. So logic says a clone wouldn't either.
