73 PT tranny blown I think, crackles
I have my 1973 PTP 100w super lead dimed all the time into a hotplate and I left it sitting there for awhile got distracted on the phone and I started smelling something and I KNEW it was my amp so I turned it all off and I blew my fuse one power tube and the power transformer cracks and sizzles and smells like something I cant describe and if I leave the pre amp tubes in with no power tubes it doesnt blow a fuse but it does crackle and sizzle the power transformer that is, so I'm dead beat broke and I'm hoping this is all it is I talked to david bray about it a little and he figures I was smelling ozone and the PT is cooked I read you can screw up the sockets and diodes or something like that, I've looked at the circuit and nothing looks like burned or abnormal, I haven't bought new tubes I have old tubes that came with the amp that I know work but I guess tubes can be bad when they look fine I dunno this is my first tube amp, thanks if anyone reads

Are you hearing these noises through the speaker or are they actually coming from the transformer itself? Leaving an amp on and unattended for awhile should not cause an issue for the OT but it is possible that a tube went bad on you.

it's the actual power transformer crackling I turn it on and about 2 seconds later it starts popping and crackling IN the transformer

Remove it ASAP before it bursts into flames and takes something else with it!
