Classic Tone 40-18033 HOT

Post by Littlewyan » Fri Jun 19, 2015 4:34 am

I finished my JTM50 build last night and after about 20-30minutes of playing I touched the PT and found it was too hot to touch! I put this down to a few things....1 the GZ34 gets scalding hot and is right next to it and 2 my attenuator was hot and was right next to it. I just wondered though is it normal for these PTs to get that hot?

Like all power transformers, it is normal for this unit to run quite warm. Most are too hot to comfortably touch (just like the tubes!). All of the materials and insulation are rated for 130C minimum (266F) - we bake our impregnating varnish at 265F for 8 hours ! All is fine. Enjoy!

I installed a Classic tone OT in place of a MM in my 2203 style amp. Love it even more now, has a more classic roar to it.
Thank you for creating such a high quality affordable product!!
