guitar nut material of choice?

Post by cary chilton » Mon Nov 06, 2006 1:31 pm

Is anyone here bothering to get a brass nut made for their guitar or bone or other materials??? I have a georgefullerton signature ( leo era) guitar and I think the stock nut is just plastic. I wondering if I should change that.

strat bridge position pup ROCK?.... not cool

BTW the bridge (seymour antiquity) pickup is DANG bright, totally not cool for rock. The only way I could tolerate it more was to ROLL OFF the treble tone control on the guitar and fatten things up on the amp and or pedals... Anyway, I decided to get a lil 59 for the bridge position so I can fatten things up, still have the harmonics etc without shearing off the top of my head. Was that a good choice?

I will use the stock plastic until it wears out then go to bone. Brass is good but will give a bit more of a "ring" on open notes.

If your PAf type is too bright, go up to a SD Custom Custom, that will fatten and darken it up a bit.

The single coils are designed to be bright and glassy.

I prefer a bone nut. Huge upgrade over plastic.
