i was asking myself as potting buckers has some pros an cons if there was manufacturers that have technics to PARTIALLY pot the windings so as to reduce considerably feedback but retain the airy sustaining qualities of unpotteds pickups ? ya know like instead of potting the whole humbunker into wax , just spraying hot wax at regular intervals on the wire while winding ?? :what:
i believe like this you'd eliminate the most of the windings vibrations but the whole structure could still " move" you know ,almost like in sismic buildings ya know :what:

Nor have I but, out of the current manufactures of clones, the ThroBak's SLE-101 Ltd's come closest so far in my expirience..
(Not including the later T-Tops which I love. Also, in that price bracket.)

I like the Duncan '59. No, it doesn't have that "upper mid-range" you speak of, and no, it doesn't sound exactly like many original P.A.F.s, but I think it's great.

My favorite aftermarket humbucker (and the one I use most) is the Duncan SH-12/TB-12 "Screamin Demon".
No, it won't give you the Van Halen tone (I'm not going for that anyway -- even though I'm a fan), but to me, it has the perfect balance of frequencies and the perfect amount of output. Not too hot, not too weak...

Ordered a HighOrder from Jeff a few weeks back after hearing so many great reviews here on this site. Havent heard a single bad review of any of his pickups. Decided to try an 8.9k A2 for my bridge PUP in my SG. Cant wait to hear this thing =)

ThroBak's are dead nuts accurate in construction, materials and dare I say TONE!!!

They are wound on the same machine that Gibson used in the 50's to wind PAF's.
The set I have uses 50's wire also and they sound fantastic. There very pricy but
go to the website and read the details.

These are it.
