Did anyone else see this?
I don't know if anyone else caught this, but I was flipping channels the other night and I saw some pop artist (guitar player) playing We Will Rock You by Queen... and he used a red special! His tone was dead on. I think I hate pop just a tiny bit less now...

No, I didnt catch that, but I DID catch Metallica doing this "different" version of "Enter Sandman". The tone is not EXACTLY dead on to the original version, but I think its... kinda sweet. The audience seemed to dig it too.CrazyNinja8730 wrote:I don't know if anyone else caught this, but I was flipping channels the other night and I saw some pop artist (guitar player) playing We Will Rock You by Queen... and he used a red special! Ha! That's great! That's not actually them playing though, is it? I'm pretty sure someone just recorded this then added his voice and some crowd cheers.
Thanks for that!

Re: Did anyone else see this?
yeah it's obviously not them playing. if you listen close at some parts his voice sounds a bit auto-tuned. i think the master tracks have come out from guitar hero, and melodyne dna has come out, so stuff like this is going to be all over the net as word of dna catches on and people get their hands on more tracks.
one thing is for sure, James Hetfield is the most intense jazz singer there ever was...

I really wish Metallica had never gotten that idiot playing bass. I have seen the 14 times and I will never go again until they get rid of that dumbass.

He made an appearance at a "Rodrigo Y Gabriela" show I went to at Radio City last year. Not only did he suck in general, his tone was absolute dogs-ass. (A nuclear-distortion bass solo?? Please.)
And that "Planet Of The Apes" stage prowling was about as fucking lame as it gets.
R y G's show was great, and their basis IS metal, even though they play classical, but to include Trujillo in there was the absolute "low-light" of the show.
(Though Alex Skolnick doing his jazz thing wasn't too great either... he should stick to Testament and forget the G7sus4b9 chords).
