Charvel style 'star' guitar/template ?

Post by Tone Slinger » Thu Jun 30, 2011 10:04 am

I am trying to start up a new guitar build, and was wondering if anyone knows of a company or luthier who makes an accurate old Charvel 'Star' style body ? I notice that Warmoths version isnt nearly accurate.

If I cant find an accurate clone, then I guess I will have to get one of those wood Blanks that have the neck pocket cut, and try to do it myself. A template would be cool. Does anyone have any info on this ?

You saw KNE's XStar? It says OEM specs, hmm would that be Charvel?

Warmoth's

Or do you want to cut and build your own?

Here's a weird one. Wouldn't know a thing about it's accuracy.

If you have Photoshop, and this is the down home long slow road... You could snag the highest res pic of it and blow it up until you have the neck pocket, bridge, and other important pieces to scale within a 16th-32nd of an inch. Then you could chop it up and print it out.

That's how I scaled my custom yet to be built dream mutt guitar. It's based on a Silverton/Kay/Harmony with LP appointments and TV Jones pups. All hollow like a Gretsch Billy Zoom too, etc etc. Crazy, It's time consuming, but you could get close.
