Warren Demartini Charvel questions
Anybody got a Warren Demartini Charvel signature guitar?? Im interested but never played one-theres a few different graphics --I like the bloody skull graphic-- they generally all have the same necks and a Duncan made Demartini custom wound pickup-just curious as to how the neck feels and there sound--can anyone comment on there experience with one..

I liked the real snakeskin-covered Strat with the unfinished maple neck he had on the cover of Guitar Player magazine from years ago http://www.woodytone.com/2010/01/04/war ... ig-part-1/

His signature pickups are based on JB's. He's used the JB for years.vanhalen5150 wrote:Those PU's are 17K, $170.00?

Took a look at the differences b/w the JB and the RTM model. Looks like they took a JB, used Alnico 2 instead of Alnico 5, and wound it up from 16K to 17K.SteadyEddie wrote:His signature pickups are based on JB's. He's used the JB for years.vanhalen5150 wrote:Those PU's are 17K, $170.00?
Seems like it would have smoothed out the sound a good bit.

Re: Warren Demartini Charvel questions
The necks are slightly wider and a flatter shape compared to say a real San Dimas style profile.
I had the opportunity to hold one of the WDM necks in the office of Mike McGregor, Product Manager at Charvel.
Also at Rainbow Guitars in Tuscon had one on the rack (rare).
I have played a few mid eighties Charvels and a Pre-Pro as well.
The snakeskin WDM has a Dinky body and the spoke adjustment truss rod.

Re: Warren Demartini Charvel questions
I got the WD Charvel and it plays and sounds great-nice wide flat neck that fits my hand good--The WD Duncan pickup sounds good with plenty of sustain, harmonics and bottom end-also has a big brass block on the floyd--finally got the Charvel Ive wanted since the 80s--very happy with it

Re: Warren Demartini Charvel questions
Cool guitar, I remember first seeing that guitar (the original) in Ratts "Round And Round" video back in '84. Warren had the pointy headstock on it in the vid (seems in '83 he used a pointy headstock alot), but by the Billy Squire tour, he had the Charvel/strat headtock on it. I bet you can nail that early Ratt tone on your Mod5 JCM 800, that circuit really excells at the first 2 or 3 Ratt album tones imo .
