Really...all along I thought it was a strat trem issue. I have a recording somewhere of my guitar doing "it". An irritating overtone predominantly on the G string up and down the neck. Worked on: nut, bridge, string routing, above the nut, tuners, truss rod, leveling of frets....

I've been revisiting this and digging around online, it seems a shallow break angle at the nut might be a contributing factor.
