I got a question for you strat guys. I am not sure if this is what I am talking about. I think they call it 60hz hum. I am hearing a ribbiting squeel from my guitar. I thaught my new JTM45 that I built was noisy. I just switched from using stright neck to neck and middle. My hum went completely away and the amp is very quiet. I hear this sound on other amps too.

I replaced all the wiring inside my guitar except the ground and put in some new pups. They are a lot better than before but still cheap ones. Would replacing my ground help get rid of this more. I know because the nature of single coils they will always hum. Will the fender 69 pups be slighly quieter than say cheaper single coils. Are they all about the same?

AHH the dreaded single coil hum,its no fun I have been playin strats for many years and did a stint at Fender in 1974,my strats hum too but if you go to custom shop pick up such as you mentioned 69 model? the hum will always be there its what single coils do but the better quality pickups should perform better tonewise they shouldnt do the high freq, squeel. Get a pickguard shield from callaham guitars website and then copper tape the control and pickup cavity. It works every time. The pickguard shield is a thin piece of aluminum that is shaped liek the PG but is slightly smaller and has screw holes for any strat PG. Its easier then gluing foil or copper tape to the PG.
