Yo...My New Guitar Pics...
This is a killer axe...comes stock with coil splitting both pups...and a locking trem...you access the back with an allen wrench to make it floating or so that it only divebombs..
It rest against a brass block when set to just divebomb and not pull up..You should hear how much more sustain it has then a Standard Floyd...UNREAL...
The pups are killer....handwound...7.7 k neck...16.4 bridge...
The funny thing is the bridge pup is not too hot...you can roll it back and it cleans up nicely...not fizzy sounding either....These pups are clear and pristine..every note cuts through with no noisy clatter...real sweet...REALLY..
It now is making me wonder if EVH did use a hotter pup in the early days...up to now...I would have said no way...
Check out the pics... :~)

No look at the horns...they are longer...and the headstock is different. It is the HP Special which replaced the Wolfgang. You can custom order these though the online custom shop now any way you like.Tone Slinger wrote:Isnt that guitar a Wolfgang ? I ab'ed the EVH Charvel against a Wolfgang, and the Charvel sounded better to me. Both were way better than anything else there with locking trems though(Ibanez, Jackson, etc) What brass block are you talkin' about ? What pick-up's ?
The pups are different...and they spilt the coils with Volume pots that are push pull...the brass block is in the whammy cavity..it is adjustable..you can set it to float or rest on the brass block for increase sustain....where it only pulls up...You can feel the string vibration very strong though the Whammy bar...You didn't noticed it on the Wolfs...
The neck pup on the Wolfgang measure real hot at 17.5 kohms. or so...the neck pup on this is 7.7 kohms. The bridge pup measures higher at 16.5 up from the Wolfs 14.5..but it is not hotter...just a different wire gauge...It cleans up nicely when rolled back...(The Wolfgangs pups do not) I know I own one...and still use it for my detuned Eb tunings.
Their was this Guitar World Video review on You Tube but the Google dorks that ruined that site took it down. I have it on CD and am tempted to post it somewhere..
Simply put and I don't use this term lightly..IMHO..this is the best shredding guitar ever made...(REALLY).
The pups are perfectly matched...when you split the coils it actually sounds like a single coil.
The neck is a slightly different profile from the Wolfgang..somehow the same neck width at the nut..1/5/8 " but wider on the fretboard..
It is an oil treated birdeye maple neck..(they are the fastest neck out there bar none)
Another thing different then the Wolfgang is there is a nice body contour where your arm is...no hard edges...
The neck joint is more tapered for easier access to the higher frets..and has moved up from a 4 bolt neck to a 5 bolt neck.
The headstock matches the body color and is a much more appealing design..
Here is the written "Guitar World Review" but not the video in PDF format.
You will see a link that say "Guitar World Review". That kid that reviewed it really liked the guitar. It got the Augest issue Platinum Award.
You can tell he really liked it in the Video because he keep using that guitar when review other devices like stomp boxes in later issues. If I couild figure out how to clean up my download limit at this site I would post the video. LOL

Those do sound like improvements. My Warmoth strat has the "wolfgang" neck profile, which I agree is the best feeling neck available. They (Warmoth) got it about 90% right. I also only use oil (tung) on my neck. It looks and feels so good. That is a very cool sunburst on your guitar. That guitar looks perfect. I'm interested in that tremelo block.
