What would be the correct choke size for a 50 watt 73'ish plexi?

George is doing a Metro choke clone of a 352-114 (U shaped frame) which I think is the same spec as the 50/100 watters (5H) not sure of the current rating. There is a C1999 choke like this, not sure of its value (Mighty Mike might know)

I am going to put one of Georges in my new build 50 watter.

I have a NMV 50 watter with a 2.2H (bell cover type, 1976) and 3H (open frame, 1969) in another, both, I believe both are original equipment.

All the chokes mentioned are 3H. They have a tolerance just like anything else and will vary but the original factory spec is 3H. End of story.

Just when you think an answer doesn't exist, Brian Wallace always seems to come through.

The guy is probably half human/half cyborg... of course built with NOS parts. 8)

You can't say like this. Value of choke can't be correct. The larger L value, better supply voltage filtering for circuits following final stage (inverter, preamp).

It is not used before final stage, because OT primary inductance compensate it. And OT primary L is much larger, than choke L.

It could be said, that larger L provide better filtering and it needs especially 1st preamp stage with high gain. You can left choke. Amp will be functional, but you can hear more unfiltered hum or noise. Everything has pros and cons.
