My friend pulled a bunch of parts out of a 2x 6L6 organ. I want to help him build his amp. My question is:
I'll leave the preamp section intact but, are there any changes I need to make to the power section of a standard JCM800 schematic.
I'll be leaving the fixed Bias. I checked and 6l6 should be biased at 23Watt (El34 - 20watts) ... so depending on the plate volatege I get I'll have to figure the current.
Are there any unforseen obstacles with this setup?

Re: 6L6 2204
If my math is correct, 20 watts dissipation on an EL34 is 80%. A little on the hot side?chubs wrote:I checked and 6l6 should be biased at 23Watt (El34 - 20watts) ... so depending on the plate volatege I get I'll have to figure the current.

That is beside my point...
Appart from not needing to connect pins 1 & 8 then to ground
and
the fact that the Trannies were used with 6L6's and a 5u4 Rectifier
Do you see any other issues with having a 2204 preamp with 6l6 power amp?
Other question
50uf filter caps or 40uf ... for 6l6? Assuming I run SS rect.

you have to switch the 1k5watt for a 470ohm 5watt on the tubes those white ceramic guys (or brown tubular) I think I have a 47k bias res. I think I have them at 37ma not sure. Stock jmp 50 power trans and stock jmp 50 watt output trans. I havent really taken any time to do the correct math. I just get in the ballpark and go by ear.
