Want to build a 2204, but need help with parts..

Hi All,

I've been looking on this forum for quite some time.

I'm interested in building the a 2204 clone but need help finding correct scehmatics, layout and a BOM.

Can someone here point me in the right direction? Maybe some instructions too..

I mainly play 80's metal and currently have a Hughes & Kettner 120+ combo. It's a hybrid, but ever since I build my Marshall 1960a cab clone, I think I'm due for an amp head. I've looked for DSL 50's, but a kit might be more fun...

i turned my plexi kit into a 2204 a few months ago. it works better for me. i love it. i just used a schematic i snagged from the internet. it was easy as pie. sounds fantastic:)

I just built a 2204 from this circuit (layout by forum member SDM) and am very happy with it:

These are principle differences from the 1986 bass spec:

>>47k instead of 100k on NFB to give the tone more wood, and wire NFB to the 8Ω tap
>>10k slope (bias) resistor instead of 56k, because I used a 50k bias pot on the board.
>>0.022uF PI caps to reduce woofy bass
>>Install bias taps and ground to lug #5
>>Add 330pF ceramic cap across each 68k input resistor (V1-2 and V1-7)
>>Change tone stack to 56k/250pF to give it more midrange beef; also try 47/500 and 47/250
>>Use a 50KA pot on Middle for more midrange flexibility
>>No bright cap, and I added a 330pF across the 68K input to provide more beef to the tone
>>Larry grounding scheme

The MV works great and at lower volumes this amp has a reedy, woody tone. The 50K middle pot helps dial in the midrange to make that happen. In addition to the MV, I drive it with a Maxon VOP-9 pedal to bring out the glass and shimmer. A very versatile amp that rocks hard. Hope this helps, good luck with your build.
