Metro 50w - mains fuse keeps blowing

Post by page361 » Mon Sep 12, 2011 5:27 pm

Need help! I was able to bias and test the amp - then after about 30 minutes of playing, the mains fuse blew - and now it keeps blowing. Removed power and preamp tubes, but the mains fuse still keeps blowing (HT fuse does not blow) when I power on (amp is on standby) ...any ideas as to what may be causing this? My fear is I have a blown PT and the fuse is just doing its job...finally I have an Arrow DPST for the power and a Carling SPST for the standby switch - defintely wired correctly.

I had a similar situation, thinking it was the PT. Threw in a back up PT, same problem. Turned out to be a dodgy bridge rectifier that failed.
