50w chassis dimensions

Post by Explorerman » Mon Feb 10, 2020 5:17 am

Hi, I’ve been lurking for a little while and after recently completing an 18W TMB build I’m looking to build a 50W 1987/2204 slowly. Being in Australia shipping and crappy aussie dollar is a killer for parts so i’m looking to build my own chassis. My work has a sheet metal cutter and bender so it should be a breeze, however i can’t seem to find what dimensions the chassis needs to be. I’ll look to get the faceplate and other components from Valvestorm, can anyone tell me what dimensions the 50w chassis needs to be to suit the Valvestorm face plate? Cheers.

I'd confirm with Valvestorm, but I would guess that this matches the panels.

Thanks mate, yeah I didn’t want to hassle VS about a product that i didn’t intend on purchasing, I’ll wait and see if anyone else that has a VS chassis can chime in, if not i might ask them - hopefully they are ok with that.

Thanks Tazin!

Also, what thickness steel is best for these 2mm? Steel or alluminium?

Awesome, thankyou! Does the steel need to be galvanised or anything to stop rust?

Yes, it's a Zinc plate; Yellow Chromate.
