50watt It's ALIVE :)

Post by el34on11 » Sun Feb 04, 2007 8:21 am

Hey all....

I got my 50watt build up and running early last week and man does it sound awesome :D Tho I did reverse the bias resistor wires and had that squeel problem it was an easy fix thanks to SDM and Bill Durham's responces to my post.....Both hit the nail on the head THANKS!

Also found I couldn't get a bias reading but found the answer in another thread, I had the 1ohm resistor grounded at pin 8 instead of pin 1.

Biased up and wow this thing sounds awesome, great tone and it has almost no noise, nice and quiet

Thanks to all who helped me through the trouble shooting!!!!!!!!
This place is an awesome resource..

Thanks again

D

Thanks MacGaden!

I used the layout for the 1987 provided by Billy Batz, and added .68uf cathode cap on valve 2. Didn't use any bright cap on the volume pot either, didn't think it needed it after firing it up and playing for a while...
It was a bit of a strugle with the diodes and a couple of reversed wires, but thanks to this awesome board and the great people here it was all sorted out and I couldn't be happier with the amp :D

i'll try to get some pics up this weekend as I still don't have a digital camera LOL....

Thanks
