But the green resistors on your attached foto aren't CC's - they are metal oxide's.

hey Larry,

the manufacturer which is KOA IIRC also makes metal oxides which look about exactly the same as the carbon ones. In fact, there is a store here that sells the carbon and metal oxides side by side. I think the green is some sort of silicon coating.

Thanks Dai!

I've already contacted the German distributor, because I intend to give it a try and I've asked for the dimensions of the resistors (dia. & lenght).

The fault almost always is sitting in front of the amp :wink:

How would these compare to Dale/Vishay metal film resisters?

For those interested, here is a photo of the resistors in a new build.

Please excuse my newbish question. I'm assuming that to get the maximum benefit, one would substitute all of the resistors that came with the Metro JTM45 kit with these Kiwames. In theory, I would hear a quieter amp, and presumably a different color?

Or would I only hear a difference if certain resistors were changed?

So they are all 2 and 5 watt resistors in there? as in the KIWAME resistors.

Nice looking work as well.

Interesting thread here.
Seems to me that these are something to be hoarded before the vanish like others.

* Error Ratings: +/-5% (actually +/-0.5%)
Gold band rating, nice.

BTW Lookin' goooood on that new build, GA. :wink:

Here is a photo of the completed amp. It sounds great and is very quiet. It is by far my quietest amp and with 4 gain stages! It seems to have the tone between a CC and CF but quiet like a MF resistor. The small ones are 2 watt the large ar 5 watt.
