Mains Fuse Problems

Hi everyone,

Weird problem came up the other day. My 68 super bass clone has been playing great for about 3 months. However, now when I take the amp off standby, I blow the mains fuse. I replaced it twice, same problem twice. The last time it blew the indicator light dimmed for about 1-2 seconds before totally going out. Also, the mains/screens caps have no voltage in them after the fuse blows.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like a short somewhere.
Tried new tubes?

I had an amp that I built that did that -- turned out I'd pinched one of the wires from the standby to the rectifier in the board mounting bolts.

Here's an update. Checked every connection I can think of, can't find any shorts. I pulled the power tubes and tried again, still blows the mains fuse. Could a failed component or bad preamp tubes cause this?
