hey axeman--- beaulieu got a RI cheap too a couple months ago. the ONLY
thing he did was the RR cascade mod....
i'm telling you what....that thing is an ass kicker. sounds good. i was really surprised.
Actually I didnt get a 1959 RI but built one out of traded parts!! The parts were however from a new 1959ri!! (Trannies,Choke,Board and filter caps)

It looks like the boards are different. The RR and the 1959 don't look the same. Anyway I tried the RR mod and don't like it, may be my expectations are to high.

Dave Freidman of Rack Systems, who will be sharing a room with Southbay Ampworks at the upcoming LA Amp show, has some great mods that he does on this flavor of Marshalls, check 'em out!!

The reissue is great for mods, so if I had one I would leave out the RR and go for one of these...

I talked to Dave two weeks ago, the price for the Brown eye/Hairy Brown eye mod is $ 600.00 DOLLARSSSSSS. I'm thinking about it.

Even I can follow that...
Before I attempt this and kill myself, any good ideas on discharging the caps?

Yes Mr.Friedman is quite the popular guy at the moment, he has worked hard and that sounds fair for the mods. When I first heard those Peter Thorn clips, I was like WTF...! He also has his own amp the Marsha, which he will be displaying at the Amp Show, Jerry Cantrell of Alice In Chains is currently using this live and it is Dave's take on a Marshall, incorporating his types of mods into a complete amp, rather than just modding another pre-built amp.
I have found Dave very helpful years ago, he also mods the Randall and Egnater modules quite well, plus his usual rack building.
The racks he has done for Steve Stevens have been great, it's how he works with the artist and meets their needs that sets Dave apart from other rack builders, form what I can tell. Personally I couldn't come to an understanding with Dave about my amp, as far as what I was looking for, but I am happy with what I have.
