I really suck at recording guitars. I used Kjaerhus Classic Reverb Plugin (80's snare preset) on Sweet Child O' mine.

Here are some pics of my recording setup:

this is some nice clips. i see that you are not on axis straight on the dust cup. you are rather on the cone.

whats speakers? did you have master volume mod like PPIMV?

Glad that you like my clips, I got more of them coming soon. I have the PPIMV and it was set at full. Treble and bass were at 6 if I remember. My speakers are Celestion Vintage 30's.

I am going to try the 1n // 470k before the gain pot and 500pF instead of 330pF on the 470K divider and maybe a 47pF to 100pF bright cap on the first gain pot. Any tips how to improve the sound would be appreciated. I try to write down the whole spec later today.

Ok, here is the spec.

No bright cap on either gain pot, a 2.2nF parallel to the 470k before the first gain pot with 220k from wiper to ground, a 330pf cap bypassing the 470k divider. 470 nF bypassing the 1k resistor at stage 4 cathode, .1uF bypassing the stage two 10k cathode, 500pF / 33k tone stack, .1uF presence, 100k NFB resistor 4 ohms tap, .0022uF coupling cap. No bypass on the third stage. Thanks Coffeetones for the spec! :toast:

Of those clips I like the 0.0022u, 4th 470nF. However I think you need to shape/boost the treble more with cathode bypass caps and treble peakers and bright cap, but cut the gainy treble with plate bypass caps or bleed to ground caps on 2nd and 3rd stages.

Here's a clip I just did, took out my Shure xlr attenuator as I think it was adding a bit of fizz. I also just started learning Crazy Train so it's pretty rough, but I like the tone.

Sounds awesome BRMSlash! Thanks for the tips!

Of my clips 0.0022u and 4th 470nF is propably my favourite too.

I am going to try plate bypasses again and everything you said above. I have to get more alligator leads and do some kind of treble bleed mod to my guitar as well. There is a long way to go and I do not know when I have a chance to mod my amp again.

Cheers. Here's another clip but using JJ 6CA7's instead of my usual New Sensor Mullard EL34's. I think I'm liking them better so far. The low end is more controlled and tight, plus they're a bit clearer in the mids, with a bit more chime in the top end. There's less quack too.

Sounds awesome! That has to be the best Slash tone that I have heard. Do not change a thing! I want the spec but I guess it is a secret.

Thanks Prowler. The spec is essentially a #34 with an extra stage, lower B+ filtering and a couple of treble bleeds and cathode bypass cap resistors to tame treble and gain. First stage cathode resistor and bypass cap are not typical Marshall, but more vintage. Component choice play a big part.

Cheers RagnarMarGunn. Yeah, the 6ca7's are a nice improvement. I need to replace my strings, so the tone should improve a little once I've done that too.

Yes and Prowler has mostly Mojo / TAD polypropylene capacitors and I believe Vintage 30 speakers.
