Cheers prowler,
So i think Sovtek preamp + el34 or 6L6s + G12H30 heritage + sm57 is the ticket,

Hey Guys,
I have narrowed down the cause of the high frequency oscillation I get with all cathodes bypassed. If i put a cap to ground on the treble pot, the amp becomes stable. The problem, the cap needs to be at least 470pF to stop it, which kills too much high end there. What are some other methods ? Should I put a small cap on each plate ? Should I dump more high end early in the pre amp ? Obviously I am going to experiment, but I am curious if there is another method I don't know about.
@BRM, dude, your amp is spot on ! Don't touch it !

have any of you tried the celestion v-type? Its sort of a hybrid between a greenback and a v30 which may work well for slash tones?

not with my 36, but I use one with a g12h30 with my 50 watt plexi or jtm45, killer speaker over all.

Move your tone stack wires. Pull them up, around, underneathh the board, etc etc. See if it affects the frequency of the oscillation. I have solved many squeeling issues with this method.bulldozer1984 wrote:Hey Guys,

Re: S.I.R. 100W SuperLead Schematic pt. II
Cheers!
In regards to oscillation, I had to put a 2k7 or 3k3 in series with the 3rd stage cathode bypass cap to prevent it. I recently tried taking that resistor out and oscillation was straight back, squealing away. I've also got one on the 2nd stage.
As far as treble bleed caps (plate bypass) mine are currently as follows from 1st stage to 4th stage: None, 470p, 1n, 470p. I've only just added the last 470p and haven't recorded with it yet.

Here's a new, longer clip with the the 470p on the 4th plate resistor: http://sclk.co/s7vvlp

Hmm, I think 470p might be bit too much. But on the bright side, I've found that I really like the crunchy tone of 500v Y5P ceramics for treble bleed. 1kV Y5P's sound too clear and don't have that sweet break up. I prefer the Y5P's over C0G's too. More parts to order
