What causes abundance background noise Vol 1 of classic Plexi?

Simply inquisitive - what are a portion of the known foundations for outrageous "background noise" a one of a kind JMP brilliant channel ? Clearly some level is acceptable...wouldn't be a Marshall without some. 
Would being the brilliant cap be able? volume pot? unique channel covers? resistors? ...all of the abovementioned? I avoid tubes as the supposition that is all cylinders would as of now be supplanted as the initial phase in investigating.
