What up guys ! bought me a 1977 Marshall Superlead .She is NEar Mint and 110% Original ! SOunds Great . Has the 3 Mustards and the set of 022 Green CHiclet type Caps . Theyre were four ARS caps already installed and two Original DALY Darek BLue Caps. Im leaving the caps for they sound fine. I hear the Dark BLue Dalys add to the tone. Its just after so many years I also hear these FIlter Caps Dry out regardless of if they still "look" ok from the outside and whther they are leaking or not. I did swap out my Dalys for ARS in my 81 JCM800 2203. Sounds good and has more volume now so im sure of atleast one or two that were failing in that head. Maybe I should of checked all six and kept the pones that were still good but oh well. Anyway, Im loving the 77 superlead with the Tonebone Hot British and the H20 Visual Sound delay-Chorus! Great styuff. SEnt my GCB95 Crybaby away for KEEELEY MODS ! chow 4 now. I still want a Metro 68 12000XXX !!!!!

I figured since you have that signature. The Robbo/Gorham era is by far my favourite too. I'm not into the Sykes stuff either, too 80's for me. I never saw them live either, but I'm also sickly addicted to them, and grabs everything that's possible (bootlegs, DVD's, documenterys). They seem to have that affect on people :) .
I'm glad you say that you recovered from the drugs, just like Scott Gorham did. If only Phil could have done that too.

Really cool amp yngwie308...

I have a few question about your amp configuration :

On v1b, you got 820/.68u instead of 2.7k/.68u and your bright channel coupling cap is .022u (instead of .0022u), is that right ?

Do you have a bright cap on the volume pot ?

I just read the post for the first time, and its funny.Guitar Player would say that this amp is Fantastic Great,The Best Ever, until the next Marshall prduct comes out.In all my old Gp Mags I have from the early 1970's.Most Rock Starz "hate marshalls" That they blow up,and no good for the road."Boogie Fever"is born. Then Along comes some kid from Pasadena.Every thing changed.

Good point, but hat kid from Pasadena has been on record numerous times with the same criticisms of Marshall.

Can you really tel the difference?

Post by acoustic madness » Mon Jun 11, 2007 1:11 pm

I read with interest the remarks about the various modifications to this amp from a completely different perspective.
As an acoustic guitar maker of some 20 years standing, I find it laughable that anyone listening to the various sound clips of this amplifier could give any credence to the results.
First, the quality of the recording, what bit rate was it set to?
Second, just how good are your sound cards and system that you're playing it through?
Third, why isn't it the same guitar and tune each time?
I could go on, but I don't want to spoil everyone
