A bone dry '71 Superlead clip

I recorded this last night really quick just to hear how this amp sounds with this spec I'm running. Tell me what you think. Any P.O.? or other nasty parasites being heard? Excuse the sloppy playing. Superstrat with a Duncan EVH straight in a '71 Superlead. Upper left input everthing on 10 except bass and Vol II on 0.
PPIMV dimed. Check out my soundclick. Red Superlead spec.

It sounds pretty good. It fits the Dokken tone better than EVH, IMO.
PO? It's hard to tell from the clip. Maybe. I do hear some fizz but it may just be the "dimed" tone from whatever tubes you're using.
The gain is "over the top" for me but it fits the style you're playing. I'd be curious to hear it with the volume around 7.

pretty decent biting tone without being too fizzy.
remember EVH did a lot of the rhythm with an ibanez (gibson copy) destroyer, its not fair to compare EVH early rhythm tone done on a superstrat, yes it will sound more george lynch.
with work the tone could be very good imo.

Thanks guys. I'll record a clip with VolI on 7 to hear the diff. I got some cheap JJ EL34L's in the power right now. I have some good NOS Jan preamps in there but I want to get a quad of Sylvania 6CA7's, I'm sure it will make a big difference. I'll change the spec a couple more times so we can do a side by comparison to hear which one sounds best. Thanks.
Chris.

i think it sounds killer. nice thump. nice tone. i like the amount of hair going on to. and to my ears it sounded closer to evh than lynch.
tell us more about the "spec" u are running.

nice spec. was your impedance switch on 16 ohm or 8?
r u are using 32u caps jumpered in series to add up to 32u on the screens or are u using single sides that add up to 16u on the screens?
which speakers?

Switch on 16 ohm
yes
no
The cab is loaded with greenbacks and G12H-30's. This is the stack I just bought as you know so I didn't take the time to open up the back and see where the greenie is and the G12H-30 is. I just miced the bottom left speaker.
Next spec and clip, I will open the cab to clear this up.

Yes on your first question.

kewlness. so the amp was dimed? no attenuator? i don't know why anyone else would say this doesn't sound like evh. it does to my ears. sounds good dude.

The amp was dimed with no attenuator. Its basically the spec that Cameron describes in the EVH chasis layout thread without the 330 on V2.
I might have to throw that on there to make a comparison.
I've tried the 820 on V1b but I find its a little too thin especially with the .0022 cap.
2.7K with the .022 cap makes it soooo much fatter.
To make this circuit a little tighter and cleaner,I might put the NFB on the speaker jack (16ohm) instead of the 8 ohm.
I really like the 33k 500p tone stack with this circuit because it ups the gain and gives the right amount of mids.

again i like the sound of the amp as is. but sure let us know what you find comparing a 330u on v2 as well as the nfb on 16ohm tap.
