Marshall 1959HW with VooDoo Amps "Jose Mod" clips
I had the VooDoo dudes do their version of the "Jose Mod" on my handwired 100 watt plexi reissue with MM OT.
This first clip is with the pre on 9 and the master on 1, no attenuation. In honor of forumite, Rgalpin, I tried to play that riff from "Blow My Fuse", but I'm sure I'm not playing it right.

On this 2nd clip, I had the master on 10 and the pre on 2, using an Ultimate Attenuator to bring the volume way down. Just wanking a Hard Rock/Metal vibe.

This is a cool mod if you want to "hot-rod" your Marshall/clone.

Nice, definitely a LOT of gain! ... a bit bright for my taste but I like the "grind" your sound has.

I dig it, stands out nicely and i think in the mix, here is where this type of mod has its place. As per the question above, is this the jose volume mod with the zeners? Alsom what speakers? Are these v30's? They sound horrible live to me but recorded they seem to have their place. They are tight and crisp.

Im 90% sure that Trace at Voodoo doesnt just use the Jose Master. Infact it may not even be in there at all.. Jose didnt do the diodes on all his mods.Guitar Adjuster wrote:Was the master control mounted on the front or on the back? Did all they do was install the Jose High Gain MV control or did Voodoo do additional mods?
Im pretty sure that they dissected the best sounding Jose modded Marshall they had, and tried to recreate it in the mod. I think they do a standard 3gainstage version and also a 4gain stage version too..
Email Trace at Voodooamps and he'll give you all the info. He's a really cool guy, and his customer service seems to be some of the best i have seen!

Sounds very nice overall, plenty of gain w/ good note deffinition but there's seems to be a bit of the same stiffness that I hear in the some of the Mojave stuff. My Peacemaker seemed to push everything through the mids in a similar way to what I hear in the clip...albiet with a little less top-end. Maybe there's some similarites in the OTs and the filtering? Overall though, sounds good. Very nice bite to the high-end and I dig the way that amp breaks up. nice playing too!8)
