thanks! need to do it again i think... hey man! what's shakin? a gentleman going by "Ray" posted these ideas recently & seemed to know his way around these amps, thought i'd give it a whirl. not bad at all. guitar is a warmoth chambered korina with a floyd & smits a2 pickup.

Man that sounds really good. The overdrive is there, the gain is there along with the sustain, dies out just when it should, but holds on long enough. What are you boosting the front end with, if anything? That Smits pickup is pretty damn impressive. What model is it? Playing's excellent bro'!!

smits ebs-2. i love it. super clear. using a newer mxr 10 band to boost. got a scumback LHDC in an iso cab cranked pretty good. had a little bit coming over my studio monitors to respond with the guitar. it would be outta control cranked through a 4x12! feels nice.

That's a pretty interesting tone right there. sounds awesome!

your amp sounds like it is responding like a slave setup (or what everyone calls reamping around this forum)

a little bit of echoplex and you'd sound just like many of the old VH boots

I literally was going to buy one of those MXR 10 bands from GC in the next week or so - its nice hearing one in the clip, doesn't seem to affect tone, probably in a good way further driving the amp.

Anyhow.....really, really good , nice job

the mxr seems pretty decent overall. it's 18vdc like the ge10, & the noise specs are about the same i think. it has the in & out volumes also. it's small, fits on a pedalboard nicely.

damn nice

Which Scumback LHDC do you speak of?

it's a 100watt "M" to be exact. great for the iso cab. full & smooth.

You know 45 I was thinking about this last night and I believe this will help your overall sound. I'm going to take a stab at it here and say you are probably are using a 500K pot with the A2. Try a 300K Linear with it (I use Gibson). It won't have you really lose any signal, but it will add just a hint of compression to the sound that's missing and you'll get rid of the hint of metallic, clanky stringy typical PAF sound in lieu of a better fatter tone.

hmm. i think it is a 500, i'll pick up a 300 & try it. thanks! why a linear?

Linear only because I think (for me) the roll up and down is more natural and better than audio taper although the description of audio taper is that it more closely mimics how the human ear hears. I think this is bull. If you look at a graph of the slope line for linear compared to audio taper, linear is a straight line, left to right, at a straight 45 degree angle. The slope line for audio taper starts straight from left to right, but on the up slope, dips down in the middle of the taper (hence the apparent loss of highs when rolling the volume down).
