'The Spirit is willing' is doing 'Machine Gun'

OK guys, I had this little trio called 'The Spirit is willing - but the flesh is stronger' about ten years ago and we did lots of SRV, Hendrix, ZZ Top, Skynyrd and so on. This is a full version of Hendrix' MG (which we recorded live during a rehearsal...). How do you like that? Be honest - I know that you can be polite.
There's lots of faults in it, but to me it still has a certain vibe which I like...
It's me playing guitar and - ahm... - singing. 8)

Thanks. :D
It was the 'Yngwie'-Strat - mid seventies model, heavy ash body, maple neck, a hot Schecter brigde PU, heavy strings
>Guv'nor, first series - for solo boost
>old MXR Phase 90
>'Vintage Amp' Top - basically a Boogie clone from a german manufacturer with some 6L6 tubes - I had no clue about biasing or matching back then, just plugged in and played. We could turn it up pretty loud in our room.
The similar amp was used by Gallagher on 'Jinx' and Scofield in the eighties I believe.
>4x12 cab with G12M25 Blackbacks

Man, we had some good times back then...

You were using a phase 90 for the vibe effect? No shit?

Yeah that was really nice.
I love the way you guys really held back on the beat, you didn't rush things.

What overall EQ settings are you using on the amp and Guv'nor...scooped or boosted mids?
It sounds warm like it's scooped but it's also very up front and clear in the mix.

Again, wonderful job.

Well, I guess it's an early Phase 90 - just 2 IC's, carbon comps - does anybody know which version? Maybe a 45? I really don't know exactly. Got it for a few bucks 20 years ago and still love it. Besides the phasing it brightens the highs really nice and sweet.

On the amp I remember all the mids, bass and highs had been dialed in, the mid boost was on and the bass was slightly boosted too by an extra switch which a friend of mine had installed - in fact this was the only setting where the amp delivered in combination with the ash Strat. On the Guv'nor the tone controls varied between 11 and 2 o clock, I always had to push the mids a bit more to make it sound not too thin. Looking back, I think we shared the vibe of these songs we did and our drummer did a good miking and mixing. We were just rollin' - in the flow, that's how it felt. The amp wasn't that good. I sold it after playing a BF Bandmaster with a bigger OT for the first time.

I like your responses. Thanks again. :D

Martin! Great tone, I really enjoyed listening to the tune and the playing! You have a great voice for Hendrix too!

That strat sounds absolutely sick!
