My Cascaded SL - Live Clip - Youtube

the video camera is distorting it but i think you can still hear the amp grinding away.

it's a cascaded V1 a la RR variety - 100W SL with 2 tubes pulled - re-amped through a Tech21 PowerEngine - the camera dude is getting an earful at just a few feet from the cab.

this amp is the end result of the stuff i've learned on this board. thanks to everybody who participates because i love this amp and i made it with your help.

hope you can hear it clearly enough in the clips cuz i'm quite proud of it.

Wow.. I like that tone!
Did you do the mod? Actual Marshall, or build?

cool thanks! yes, i did the mod and it is a build. i bought the amp off of another baorder here - it was a SL with an MV. i removed the MV a while back - and just recently cascaded v1.

thanks!

those are V30s - cab wired for 4 ohms because the power amp needs 4 ohms to get up to stage volume - which in our case is rediculously loud! ;)

i had my weber pre-rola clones cab at home that night so i did a re-amp thing with one cab and inserted my delay after the first amp but i usually run the cascaded amp dry into the pre-rola cab - and run a tap over to the delay and power amp which feeds the V30s cab.

does the randy mod "feel" good? are you liking it better than the boosted plexi for live use?

I'm digging the tone.I need to get out and hear you guys when I get a weekend off.I wouldn't mind building a amp to those specs. The tone sounds huge even on Youtube.

Sounds like it's bustin' at the seems. I like that gain ! Somethin' nuclear about it...
For me, it would be another speaker but, hey, it works.

Dude that sounds great.I'm glad that there's still guys that play this kind of music out there. It's so cool that you're in a band with the singer from KIX.
Have you ever re-amped through a tube power amp with adjustable impedance settings through a cab with say Celestion G12h30's wired at 16 ohms?
Whatever happened to that guy Brian who who was in KIX?He was the guy with the long straight black hair.I remember on an episode of 'Where are they Now?' it showed that he lived somewhere on the East Coast and was doing billboards for a living.

brian plays in a group called Rhino Bucket and he still does KIX reunion gigs a couple times a year. look 'em up!

i actually just dropped out of FM - after 5 years - i'm back to normal weekends - it was fun but i'm old... i need that gig that starts at about 9pm and gets me home in bed by midnight!

i'm still playing though - i'm in a church group that ROCKS!

Oh no way! That is Steve Whiteman singing? I can still remember hearing "Yeah, Yeah, Yeah" the first time... classic!

I still love the sound of that amp :D If you get a chance, would it be too much of an imposition to ask for more details? Also, with the slave going in the video, I am assuming it is a load on the Marshall, and then line out (slave) to the power amp (Tech21)?

Maybe it is the camera, but for V30's, those are surprisingly smooth!

I thought the amp sounded really good Rob and at times paralleled Largo, this spec seems to agree with you playing style.

Sorry to hear about you dropping out of FM but there is a time where playing the bar circuit just isn't feasible or totally fun to a point, especially every weekend. Did it when I was younger not as much fun over 30.

not to be a shameless cheerleader - but part of what kept me going for that five years was the stuff i was learning here on the metroamp board - i'd tweak every week based on stuff i'd learn here and then go blow it out full speed on saturdays - definitely added an extra level of fun to it.

i'll make a good recording of that setup and post it to compare to what the camera mic is doing.
