This is something I did last fall just to see how it would pan out. It's basically me playing guitar and drums (overdubbed) with my stock Historic R7 Goldtop and stock 1987XL with a Marshall 425A cab. I added a tiny bit of echo pedal on the lead parts and the rhythm parts were double miked, an SM57 on the cab and a condensor mic about 7 feet away.

Thanks for the kind words. I really need to take drum lessons to learn techniques that would make life easier. Too lazy and stubborn to take guitar lessons. Basically I thought I'd post the clip here to demonstrate what a stocker 50 watt plexi RI with the FX loop (and with the 4700pf bright cap in place) sounds like. Although what you hear is the amp with the FX loop bypassed. A recent power tube change has yielded quite a bit more low end punch and reveals the amp also has a bit more distortion on tap than what's heard in the clip. I still read these threads by guys saying *the first thing you should do with your new 1987X is toss that bright cap then the amp sounds great* or whatever. Foolishly that's exactly what I did when I first got the amp and then months later after I'd already had a Hotplate I went to Radio Schack and bought some 4700pf caps and soldered one to the vol. one lugs and damn, theres the classic hard Rock tones I've been after for years. You want more distortion? Keep twisting the volume knob clockwise!
