Brooke will soon be the proud owner of a Metropoulos 12-series replica; as these clips will briefly demonstrate, it's going to a good home! These details are courtesy of Brooke:

"Regarding the recording:

I was able to borrow the amp for a week or so last year and it is my understanding that this is a completely stock 12xxx series. Though I did not remove the chassis, it was most definitely a Metro.

Signal chain is as follows:

Alder strat w/ seymour 78' model pup
MXR distortion Plus (BUD BOX) Level on 10 / distortion 0
Metro 12 series dimed (except bass, on 3)
Ultimate Attenuator
Avatar B cab w/ 1970 25 w Pre Rola GB's 1221 16 ohm/ 75 hz
1 Sure SM57 on axis
Pro Tools 002 / no eq/ Plate Reverb"

Deadly!! Just wondering about the settings on the UA.

This setup is much like mine except the speakers, where I'm using a X pattern of newer Greenbacks and G-12H's, and the MXR pedal.

I also have a Metro 12 Series from George...what setting did he use on the Virtual Variac switch on the 12 Series??? Did he use any method of lowering voltages such as an outboard variac???

Wondering about that setup as it does not sound like mine!!!

Nice tones....the best!!

this is THE sound I'm going for. How much is the MXR influencing the sound?

whats the "Bud Box" referring to for the MXR pedal? That something special? Also when you said the "level on 10", did you mean the output knob cranked? Let me know man I would appreciate it

I use two Marshalls currently.

I seem to go more for smooth and open then cutting however by getting the 1977 JMP) MKII that enbded that
I use this
1981 Marshall JCM800 2203 100 watt (Analogman 3403d chip pedal clean boosted ) with a BOGNER straight cab and V30s for added bottom
1977 Marshall JMP MKII 1`00 watt "HOME TAGS!" got lucky" with a matching 1977 Marshall G12M25 cab / has p[ro 1000 wire wired in parallel. sounds insane

iuse two diff. pedals on this amp for it is a Non Master Lead series.
1991 Marshall shredmaster 1st ed.
1991 Marsha;l; Bluesbreaker 1st ed.
1973 Gibosn Les Paul Xtra jumbo stnless frets. Blck . INCREDIBLE playing and feeling gtr! Has Darkbursts WCR
2001 PRS Singlecut with Deep Red/burgundy flametop and birds and #7 pups.
Both guitars are great
2001 PRS Green quilt again #7s recent acquiring of this guitar. got it for $1300!
The 01s in mint or near mint are at least $1900 up +/-

I use little fx.
a Lee Jackson Reverb thru the back of my 81 JCM800. I have a NON INVASIVE loop. NO DRILLING . A one off. HE doesnt do these anymore. I just approached him on it and he did it . THanks lee. it is niceley applied to the left inside back of the amp. one gropmmet and safety metal round it thru a STOCK HOLE so NO DRILLING in the head . has dual in out lines for on off and parallel or series . Im getting a t rex de;lay for it soon. i like just a smidge of verb for solo thats it.the trex del;ay is nice
This amp is SOOOOOSMOOOTH
the 77 is smooth to but has even morre bottom.

I find the trick is the right pickups .settings your pedals meticulously to either clean boosting if you have a MASter VOklume or with the 77 I unity all EQ knobs and run the gain and volume accordingly

Just curious...being a newbie here...do you folks ever take into account what EVH's tone had to be in order to fit into the track/band? Or are you gettin' off on how your tone (or Ralle's, etc) sounds solo?

Just curious, 'cause it seems like folks are chasing a recorded tone...with the mammoth changes that the recording chain imposed....as opposed to how EVH's amp actually sounded in the room that day.

Set me straight as to how you folks are listening for EVH tones so that I'll be on the same page! :)

I'm a bit of a recording engineer and I know that sounds are sculpted to fit together as a successful whole. That means that what we hear on, say, VH1 was a carefully manipulated version of what the amp actually sounded like that day. It is not a clinical representation, and I wonder how choices of caps, trannys, etc could ever be made by referencing those outstanding recordings.
