Here is a sound cilp of my first Metro head. Sadly, in 07 my trailer was broken into and most of my PA system along with some of my prized guitar gear was ripped off (including this amp head), which is why I've been out of playing for 2 years. About to get back into it though.

This clip was done in '04. Setup -

'69 Super Lead Metro build
Heyboer power tranny 185-0-185 Primary
Heyboer 2" output tranny
MM 3.3H choke
JJ E34L power/JJ E83CC Preamp
Sozo caps
Les Paul loaded with EMG 85 neck, 81 bridge
Straight into the head
All knobs dimed...Presence on 6
'73 Marshall cab loaded with G12H-30 Greenbacks
Marshall Power Break on 1st click
SM57 mic'ed off axis halfway between center and edge of cone

Clip

Out of the 5 Metros I've built, this head sounded the best. I suspect it had something to do with the fact that I used a 3.3H choke in it since that was the only difference between all 5...all the other ones had 10Hs in them. For those who remember, same one I had the Jaeger Bomb Incident/Output tranny issue with (ended up having to replace the OT shortly after the build due to a Jaeger Bomb being spilled into it along with the secondary being out of phase due to a color code mismatch...one of the last ones George carried with the American standard color code and we confused the secondary wiring with the Euro standard since only 1 color is different between the two).

No...it's being hosted from my web server and my internet connection has been up and down the last week. Trying to get AT&T to fix the damn thing. I'll post up and let you know when my connection is permanently up.

Sounds sweet.

Why did you steer away from the 3.3H chokes if you liked them so much?

At the time I had no clue about them affecting the tone the way they do. That and it was what George had in stock at the time. Matter of fact if I remember correctly I believe it was by pure luck that I even ended up with the 3.3 when I did (was what he had in stock at the time).

lol, ain't that funny how that works.... That's like Marshall's scenario back in the day and many others. Fender was like that too. Hit or miss.
