My 2nd amp build - clip
Completed my 2nd metroamp build last weekend. For this one, I included a switchable 1959 and 2203-like circuit (a couple component tweaks for my taste) - much thanks to Steve (SDM) and his site with the great layouts, and of course to George and his crew for making such an awesome amp kit!
Here is a short clip. http://www.soundclick.com/bands/page_so ... ID=8432623" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I think the amp sounds really killer! Were you using anything as a boost at all?

Re: My 2nd amp build - clip
Hey thanks man. With like a 100-ish views and no comments, I was wondering if I missed the mark or something. No boost at all. The opening riff and melody is guitar straight in to amp on the 1959 channel. The lead solo is the 2203 side along with the heavier rythym - no boost but i did hit a flanger a couple times. The more I listened to that clip the more I liked it. The amp just has a chewy meanness to it that I'm really digging.

I didn't think you were running anything. The amp sounds nice and mean with alot of growl, I really like it!
Is the 1959 to 2203 footswitchable or manual switch?
What speakers are you using? I have a guess but I want to see if I am right.

It's just a toggle switch between the 2 channels, pretty simple. That was a sm57 on a scumback m75.

Yep, I thought so! I just picked a quad of M75's. Funny how I can pick them out now in clips! They really seem to have the effect of making the amp sound more overdriven than it really is.tonepilgrim wrote:It's just a toggle switch between the 2 channels, pretty simple. I checked out your other clips including your bands' song. Very nice, I enjoyed it!

I think you're right about the speakers, but I think it's a combination of those speakers and a sm57 that really give that perception.
Thanks for the compliment on the band clip. In all honesty, it's something I do for some good friends of mine, but it's hard for me to get in to. I'm just not a power pop kind of player. I've dropped some nasty guitar on some of that stuff that never gets to see the light of day. Thanks though!
