50 watt kit with suhr

Post by univalve1234 » Thu Dec 24, 2009 6:58 pm

This is my first 50 watt buid.Amp is going into a vintage soundcity 4x12 with chinese greenbacks . Volume 1 is dimmed and most of the other controls are at 12 oclock.
Using a hotplate at 4 db and the PPIMV ( 220k resistors rerplaced wih 470k ) is set at around half way. Please let me know what u think of the tone. The amp is stock 68 specs with sozo caps , EH el34 and original mullard 12ax7's.
thanks :)

I dig it. Sounds just like a 50w should. Good gain, good clarity, and still hear the wood. Some nice noodling too.

thanks :) i think so too, still trying to tweakmy sound here and there but im almost there. Im pretty sure the amp will sound better as the caps and trannies break in . Using chinese greenbacks at the moment and im wondering if i shoud get the heritage ones?????? Im in the uk so getting scumbacks is gonna be really expensive to ship ( taxes, import duties etc :( )
