"Stratus" By Billy Cobham. Tommy Bolin played on the original, It´s more or less a Jazz/Rock standard.Southbay Ampworks wrote:Live clips from a concert attendee at Tone Merchants 1/15/10
Unknown riff (sorry!)

Sounds like Steve Stevens have listened to Jeff Beck´s version: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xiOG6_A6GWQ
Some great playing and tones in those clips, but I´d like to hear more of Pete Thorn...

Re: Steve Stevens & Pete Thorn - LIve @ Tone Merchants clips
Thanks for the last song/riff name McG. As for Pete, when we did the sound check, Pete brought along his Port City 4x12 (w/M75-65w). I had one of my 69 spec cabs ready for him to use.
Dave Friedman & I listened and we both thought Pete should use the 69 spec straight cab I had for him (M75 65w again), but Pete would have had to re-EQ his rig and we opted out of doing that.
I did get him to bump his Faustine attenuator up to just one level of attenuation from 2 clicks down to match Steve's volume, but I think the Marsha/69 spec cab combination is just a kick in the gut and cuts through almost everything. And I think Pete will probably hear that on the clips.
But, there was a five camera shoot going, with a soundman, so it's possible that Pete could be louder in other recordings.
Pete, of course, is a fabulous guitar player in his own right, and has done a few clips for my speakers, as well as a number of youtube demos of gear (Suhr Riot Pedal, Marsha amp, my speakers, etc), so he's easy to find clips of, or I can send you some if you'd like.
I know he's finishing up his "Guitar Nerd" album pretty soon, so you'll be able to get that and "nerd out" with Pete.
Here's one that will be on the album:

Great tone on the clip you posted.
I´ll look forward to hearing the clips from the pro shooting. I think Peter Thorn is great player, great feel, and tone, so I would have loved to hear some more of him. Any player who teaches "Eruption" AND "Dear Prudence" on his Youtube channel is my kind of player...
