Converting'67 Super Lead w/ Drake trannys to '68 Super Lead?

Post by chrisom » Thu Sep 16, 2010 12:04 am

Anyone know what a '67 Super Lead with Drake trannys sounds like after being converted to '68 Super Lead specs? I would be interested to know.

I'm doing a '67 Metro build and I'm putting a '68-'69 preamp circuit in place of the Bass channel which I never use anyway. I will probably use .022 caps in the phase inverter section. I just bought some NOS Mullard Mustards for that.

Will it still sound great without the Dagnall replicas? I have the Metro Drake replicas which I'm sure are great? Thanks- :|

I meant instead of having a stock '67 bright channel and a stock '67 bassier channel, having the stock '67 bright channel and a stock '68-69 bright channel as your input options. I never use the "jumpered" channels- it always sounds to muddy to me, so I thought I could add some versatility to the amp by using the spare channel for something else. Kapeesh? Thanks- co

use a 1uf K cap across the 820 ohm resistor, that would get red of the muddyness.
