I have a feeling it has alot to do with mic placement. It really makes a HUGE difference depending on where you have that thing pointed. I would try using one sm57 and angle it slightly inward toward the center of the cone but with the mic placed between the center of the speaker and far outer edge. I use G12M's so it may end up sounding different but still something to try. Another thing you can try is 2 SM 57's. One straight into the center and the other one angled like i mentioned above. Also, make sure your mic's are pressed into the grill cloth. Ahh just send it over to me and i'll make some nice clips for ya!

The blend of both mics is giving a better idea of the sound in the room.

I think that is pretty damn good George. Especially considering you're playing a Les Paul, which is naturally going to sound a lot fatter than a Strat style with a humbucker. I really think that EVH did use stock or near stock amp for his studio work. This sounds very close to his tone on some of the club boots I've heard, and even the WB demo. Not only that, but there are other great tones in that amp, just waiting to be rediscovered. Can't wait to start building mine. :D
Why is it we can remember where all the wires go, but can never find a pick?

Jeepers George. That amp is givin me the chills. Sounds freakin beutiful. I will be giving you some business very soon.

Business on my end is a tad slow even though I got money in the bank. I just want to make sure I don't spend my way into the poor house..LOL.

Who cares though. At least I will have great tone!!!!!!!!!!!

I may be wrong but I think the G12Ms only came in 75hz? The G12H came in 55 and 75

The G12M came with 75Hz and with 55Hz, but mostly they've been "Blackbacks" - what means, that they've had a black cover around the magnets - and they were made with a different cone especially for the bass cabinets.

I don't like its sound too much, compared with the 75Hz type it's a deeper tone with less highs. Maybe 2 G12M 55Hz with 2 G12M 75Hz together in a 4 x 12" cabinet are worth to give it a try, but I've never tried it.

The fault almost always is sitting in front of the amp

When I get the new 4x12 Im going to load it with Scumback G12Ms or the Herritage and review that. Right now Im leaning towards Herritage but that may change.

im leaning towards the heritage g12m as well - stans clip was kind of the confirmation for me - i wish the BX cabs didnt have the particle board backs. i would buy the one i had a lead on right now i think it had heritage... umm maybe the vintage though now that i think about it... i need a cab heh

Mark, you still haven't found a cab? Did you say that you played your amp through a 4-12 at your rehearsal space? I haven't stayed up on this, sorry.
I spent all last week sniffing solder fumes.

I think this merits a new thread.
