This guy had some great tones while not falling into the Floyd Rose tremelo epidemic of the 80's.

He really blossomed with Badlands which is my favorite Marshall tone and playing by him. Man did they write some good music him and Ray Gillen.

Too bad he is such a recluse and only plays when he sees fit, alot of talent in that guy.

Good songwriter indeed, and had a very good singer with Ray Gillen.

Of all the guitarists that Ozzy has had since Randy's tragic death, Jake E Lee is my favorite by far. Bark at the Moon and Shot in the Dark are my favorite Ozzy songs since Randy. Just never got into the Zack thing.

Ray Gillen had awesome tone. Very good pairing there.. the Badlands stuff is really groovy.

Zakk I thought was great early on in his career. I really liked the screaming harmonincs but often didn't like the way he played Randy and Jake's solos. Now he is a sloppy messy drenched in wah player.

Me too! I always liked Jake's playing.

Zakk's got great chops but he isn't very inspiring to me. I saw him live with Ozzy and he could play Randy note for note while running around on stage (on that night at least), which was impressive but his original stuff just never appealed to me.

You guys must be as old as me!

I loved Randy & when Jake came along I was thrilled because Ozzy had found another great guitar player.

Jake is under rated and you always hear about Zakk. Zakk is an incredible player and musician but I never got in to him. I was sorry to see Jake go but was excited when the first album came out with Zakk. What a huge let down.

Kind of lost interest in Ozzy after that. :?

Technically Zakk is still great I suppose but he hasn't crafted any solos like he used to in years. I mean No more Tears had some really cool inspiring solos. And then... he got into this gun slinging ubber heavy metal look at me and how manly attitude and turned to speedy guitar playing crap. Hence the reason why SLASH still is great. Obviously he is gifted.. within a few years of starting he already had killer lead chops. He's a guy who just plays well for a song. Randy played for the song, jake played for the song. All the great guitar players in my opinion, played for the song. (except Yngwie lol, he just rips and is the maestro!)

Yngwie is great at writting songs for the solos. ;)
Yngwie celebrates the instrument as a solo instrument. further more to deny( not saying you do ) Yngwie of his influence and what he has given to guitar is just beyond me.

Right on Mark!!
Yngwie has influenced so many guitarists, that many do not even realize it.. :)
