Question: does Rev play Tush in open G or standard tuning? Open G sure makes sense for that riff and solo. I'm gonna look at some live clips on youtube and see if I can tell.

I think it´s open G on the record, but live it may be standard. This is from the show that turned me on to ZZ. We did´nt know anything about them in Europe, but 10 seconds in they had me. Tush in standard tuning:

For the Chief: Very interesting study in different styles. Jeff just takes a completely different direction. He´s said he loves "Rough Boy" and wishes the solo could go on forever. Here´s his chance:

I love Billy, but Jeff just takes it to another level in this song.

Wow, I love Jeff (and Billy) but IMO, Jeff kind of overdid it on that solo. Billy's original take on it was just PERFECT.

This question had me researching:
Custom made by John Bolin
The neck PU is not connected, or is a "Dummy"!
Billy uses 7's for strings...
The body might be hollow.

Got most of this info from this semi-old, 3 page thread from: http://www.lespaulforum.com/forum/showt ... p?t=147663" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
A couple of nice pics, too.

I got the bootleg of the show in Pensacola, FL in 1970. Great playing.

I LOVE the first album! I LOVE this clip.

I've been trying to cop this tone for ages. Here's my latest attempt.

94 LP with SD PG Bridge PUP
Homemade Supa Fuzz
Metroamp 12000

Cheap camera screwed up my bottom end, which was fuzzing more than the video shows.

I just bought a JMP-1 and plugged in the settings from the Rig Rundown video - even with headphones it was fantastic. I am going to put it into my rack on the weekend and see how it sounds. I can hear the live tone all over it. I was cranking the "Later with Jools Holland" version of "Stop Breakin Down Blues" and just loving it.

I have my wishlist that I routinely search for and last night I took a look on eBay and found a Digitech Mono 28 for $100. What a great week! I thought that was a great price but I've never seen one for sale below so what do I know?! Anyways, I was tickled pink to pay the $100 and it's on the way, I can't wait to get it. I have a 94 Les Paul Standard with a SD Pearly Gates PUP in the bridge so I am hoping to use the eq to get as close as I can to the real PG.

I have a VHT 2502 power amp with a Marshall 4x12 with G12M-25 greenbacks with the 6402 cones to complete the signal chain. Not exactly the same as BG but should be a lot of fun.

I see that BG also uses a modded/custom Mojave Scorpion with an ISO cab along with the rack. Maybe I should mix my Metro 12000 with the JMP-1 to see how it sounds. I know that Elwood is right, the JMP-1 does not clean up like a plexi at all.
