Legato-Fest ?
He's changed his style a few times. Incorporated AH riffs with his.
I incorporated one he showed me in my sig @1:25
Like to see Allan back with either Bill or Terry & Eddie.
so... yea, Mark & I were classmates with Frank. Also a very nice and very polite guy.Allan Holdsworth wrote:(I thought) Shawn Lane was an amazing guitarist and musician. He was also a very nice man with a passion for Belgian ales (OK by me!). He is greatly missed.

I used to have that entire "Tokyo Dream" concert on VHS, first-generation from laser-disc for years till I made the mistake of loaning it out... Great concert though, and good to see the old Dentyne-red Grover Jackson Charvel Strat-style guitar.

I know that is all phenominal playing and all but in all honesty it's over my head. It amazes me for a few minutes than <yawn>. No disrespect intended. I could never play that way (well....maybe if DI JimiJames got me in guitar boot camp I could....

Yeah, I remember in an interview Steve Stevens saying Billy Idol could listen to reggae all day long, but if Steve turned on Holdsworth, Billy thought it was crap. Definitely cannon fodder for those who enjoying shredding. I love it in controlled doses but like I always say, "You'll never get laid playing Yngwie Malmsteen or Holdsworth for the ladies..."

Yeah, that's for sure!chrisom wrote:, "You'll never get laid playing Yngwie Malmsteen or Holdsworth for the ladies..."
I think it's real impact is when you see it live in front of your face. The guy from Rat Race Choir had a lot of Holdsworth influence and when he went off in that direction it was jaw drop all around the room. They used to do "In the Dead Of Night" with a Zeppelin heaviness that was awesome. Hitt did just that though, he always knew just when to pull it back into a bluesy pentatonic flavor.
