The man who gave David Bowie his special guitar sound!
Where can I get Marshall 200 and Major build info?

One of my all-time favorites. I'm pretty sure Randy Rhoads was heavily influenced by Ronson

If you do an Internet search there is this guy out there who owns Mick's Marshall Major, his Marshall cab and effects owned by Mick. I even seem to remember he has one of Mick's guitars as well. He is a keen source for detailed info.
There always is dawk for the Majors but he is Blackmore centered.
Sorry I cannot be of more help but help is out there!!

I've got a chris merenn 50W output transformer that gets 90% of that sound at a reasonable volume. big billowing cello mids. Also kossoff or mick ralphs on fisrt BADCO, or early malcom, which are similar. A 5ow with no attenuator will have more magic than a 200W with one ime. You can get a 50w to have that tone with careful preamp tube biasing, celection, and circuit tweeks and the right OT.

Honestly Ronson had many phases of great guitar playing...I would assume you are going for the Spiders era as heard on the soundtrack to the film Ziggy Stardust from the final Hammersmith gig.

I would recommend getting a great clone or reproduction of his MKI Tone Bender. There was even one made and licensed by his family. A good vintage wah and an Echoplex. In my opinion, these were more crucial to the sound of the Spiders than the amps.

Thanks all!

Been a while since i posted this.

So one more thing about Micks "sound" I
know from watching him play live, (Spiders)
73', is his uses of a wah pedal and setting it as
a mid filter notch. Leaving it slighty mid on
Lots of people did/do this i.e.
Jeff Beck Truth/Beck Ola.

Think I just carbon dated myself :palm:
