Finally starting my build
Finally. Starting my 45/100 build that I have been wanting to do for almost a year. I didn't do this on purpose, but today makes it a year that I have been a member of this forum, and I have been drooling over plexis ever since I saw Metropoulos amps which was a bit before I joined.
I just got my stuff from Ceriatone, and I'm going to be ordering more stuff tonight.
EDIT: I shouldn't be lazy, so I'll embed the photos.

Update, got the boards from http://www.kurtsequipment.com/reproboards" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;, they're awesome. Some electrolytic capacitors should be coming very soon, courtesy of a member here, Shakti.

Re: Finally starting my build
Some new stuff is on its way, (caps, fuses, IEC cable, Marshall knobs). Then I'm ordering sozos and wire tonight, then I have to wait about two weeks and I'll be ordering Marstran trannies. I'm going with the PT that does 560 VDC on the kt66s. Then after the transformers, tubes, and then it'll be functional. Then I'm getting a headbox from Mojotone.
Hopefully it will be finished before June.
I'll be uploading pics of everything as it comes in, and then I'll upload pics when I finish assembling the board. And go along as I am wiring everything.
I'm sure hoping it'll be beautiful.

Re: Finally starting my build
nice.
the mojotone headbox is the most accurate headbox ? do we know the exact dimensions of an original jtm45/100 headbox ?
the one i had from metroamp ( i think that it comes from mojotone ? ) has the tolex getting off, inside . the glue doesn't hold it anymore. but it should be easy to re glue it with some wood white glue.

Metro = Mojo headbox, just specced for flat lip and whatever cutout you sayXplorer wrote:nice.

Re: Finally starting my build
: D sorry, what's "flat tip" please ? is it an exact spec for an original jtm45/100 ? you know, not just : fitting any chassis, but also being a clone of an original headcab like that ...

Re: Finally starting my build
I actually made the mistake of not specifying the flat lip and I now regret it . Lucky that I have another Metro-delivered/mojo headbox that will be the home for the 68' spec I just finished. That's an important lesson (and pricey if the the details matter to you!).neikeel wrote:Metro = Mojo headbox, just specced for flat lip and whatever cutout you sayXplorer wrote:nice.

Re: Finally starting my build
I think in the comments you just put "flat lip", or you could email them. Anyways, I'm glad you guys started talking about it, I had no idea there was a difference.
Could some one post up a picture of it?
Oh, and I'm using a 220uf cap instead of a 250uf cap in the schematic, should I expect a large change? I couldn't find a high voltage enough 250uf cap, then I realized that the cap is in parallel with a resistor. Hoping this wont be a problem. And I'm using a .047uf in the rectifier. Other then not being perfectly vintage correct, any problems?
The 220uf is backordered, and so are some fuses, should be getting those in a week. Sozos and wiring are on their way, then I should start assembling the boards.

Re: Finally starting my build
So, I need help deciding something. I emailed Marstran, and they said it is going to take a few months before the transformers I need will be in.
I was planning on using the PT that does 560VDC on the plates, to get closer to vintage spec.
My question is, should I wait for Marstran, or go Heyboer, and only be doing 490ish VDC on the plates?
