Just figured it out like ten minutes ago, and its pretty killer. For those who haven't heard it, check out live at the Fillmore East.

Hats off to Billy Cox!

Yeah man! BoG era is Jimi at the top of his game, IMO. Not saying that the prior stuff is any less awesome, since I still rank Axis right up there with BoG as my favourite Jimi album, but the addition of Cox's bass style, and the harmony vocals just kill. Too bad it didn't last.

I can never get over just how well the line gets rolling, its soo smooth, like theres no begining or end, it just flows.

I loved Cox's bass on the studio version of 'Room Full Of Mirrors' as well. He played great ALL of the time.I just wish his tone hadnt distorted out so much. Man, if he had had an Ampeg or something back then, him and Jimi would have been into some more area's, just based on his bass tone reacting as quick and propulsive as Hendrix's guitar tone.

I love his bass tone on Live at the Fillmore/BoG, its so big sounding. But I can only imagine what a real tight sounding amp woulda done for him. Again though, there's something about that old school sound that I really like.
