My amp right now has split cathode with 2k7/0.68 on V1b, no cap on V2 and 100n PI coupling caps.
Filtering is 50uf mains and screen and 64uf PI. Preamp is 32+32.

I'm gonna try with 820/0.68 on V1b and PI filtering @ 32uf for now then I'll also try with a 0.68 cap on V2 and I'll change screen filtering later.

What bright cap do you use, Roe ? I have a 5n on now.
those mods should be fine for a strat.
I use the 5nf and love it for high volume.

I tried with 820/0.68 on both V1b and V2 but I found there was too much gain. That's with a 5n bright cap. So now I'm gonna try without the bright cap or with a smaller one. Or then I might mut the 5n BC back in place but increase NFB to 27k / 8 or 16 ohms.

What's "not too high" ? And if they are too high, how do tou reduce them ?
Thanks :D

EDIT : I thought I'd ask what your settings are.
Mine are usually : presence and treble on 5, bass and mid on full and volume on 8. With only one 0.68 and the 100n PI coupling caps it works quite well. But with the 0.68 on V2 I thought there ws too much gain, it didn't sound very Hendrix to me with the guitar volume above 5. But then it might be my ears !

too high is substantially higher than the original voltage charts found in doyle and elsewhere. you reduce them by increasing the 8k2 and 10k voltage droppers to 12k, 15k etc.

my settings vary alot. with a strat, presence is low on a superlead. bass around 5, mids at 8-10, treble around 5. vol at 8+

I A/B tested the new dunlop hendrix octavio against my old rocket roger mayer (RM) octavia. For me, the latter was the clear winner (into a superlead turned up). the RM has more range to the knobs. it can be cleaner and gainier. also its more aggressive and cuts better in the mix. it even handles thirds and cords better

not dead on but gets me close enough

'97 Hendrix Tribute strat
'79 Strat

Early 70's Vox King Wah
modded MXR Phase 90 cocktailed with a Russian Small Stone. Both turned on..settings a bit diffrent (to emulate a Univibe, as I sold my Capt Coconut II)
Boss OC2 (again, not correct but good enough for me)
Ibanez TK999US (to make up for not having 3 full stacks turned up to full tilt)
Boss DD7 Delay (since I dont have 600 acres of fields on Yasgurs farm, or other bigplaces Jimi played)

Metro amp 68 style 100 watter w Jose master & KT88's. Shared cathode

Sourmash "1960 tb" (basically a 1960 TV, but straight instead of angled) with Mesa MC90's

My hands, fingers & brain.

Laugh it up cork sniffers. I just do what I can with the tools I have. :jimi:
My Marshalls aint feedin' back....They're Laughin' at your Line-6
