What Amp Do I Buy To Get Hendrix At Woodstock Tone?

His guitar slung across his back, his dusty boots is his cadillac.

There is a picture of the back of Jimi's right stack from Woodstock in the liner notes of the new box set "West Coast Seattle Boy" it looks like a 4 output '69 Super Lead and it also looks like it has 6550's or KT88's in it :jimi:

He had 3 stacks in the picture it is the one on the right which was usually the first on in his chain.

So just an update my pursuit of the Woodstock amp:

I just put down a deposit for George to just build me the Woodstock amp!

FIgured that would be the best and easiest thing I could possibly do to get the Hendrix at Woodstock tone. Why not just have a master builder build it for me lol

Now I guess I have about 8 weeks of hell to endure while I wait (im)patiently for it to be completed...

I figure it's the best thing I could do for myself. In the future I'm going to attempt an amp build, AFTER I already have a great amp I can fall back on!

I studied that photo as well in the new box set, and thought the same thing...but wouldn't the 6550s bottle widen just below where the back panel obscures them? I'm guessing EL34s too, but I'm not 100% sure...

Looking at the width of the bottle top says they are 34's because KT's are wider relative to the size of the tranny shell and any other component you're referencing on the back. After all the years and all the vintage Marshall's I've been in the back of they are definitely 34's. And you guys have to remember that those were the newer Marshall's that he had just recently starting using in the states and since they were 69's they would have come stock with 34's at that point.
