but as hendrix's amps usualy didn't have the bright cap, isn't 0,005 uf close to 0uf ..no bright cap ?

why would all Hendrix amps have to be the same mods and tweaks ?

at Woodstock you can hear the 5k Bright cap as well the Berkeley stuff

no i didn't mean that the amps of hendrix were all like that, and i sure don't know it, and there are tons of things i don't know for sure.
i just wondered if there was a big difference between a 0,005 uf cap, and no cap. ?
but my question may be stupid lol, as 0,0005 uf makes a difference. i think i was asleep while writting :palm:
just another dumb question : the higher the bright cap value is, the brighter the amp is ?
cause as he was looking for a more trebly tone, it would make sense. unless i'm mixing everything into a mess of informations ^^

a .0005 bright cap is HUGE its the one tha makes all the treble fullout by 2 on the volume !

i think you're in the right direction. i'll try it myself, A/B it with an RS silver mica 5000pf or more. 6800pf etc.
since he was looking for more treble, ( though we hear a thick tone with a strat ) , it makes sense.
would you describe this mod as something that brings more treble ... as well as a thicker tone ?

I usually remove the .005 bright cap

I put it back in because my other changes to the amp made it too thick and fat

I understand. Other mods making it thicker would be .. The tonestack, nfb.. ?
I can't wait to try the bright cap mod, and tweak several things, although peoples usualy say that the stock values are the best.

Great tone and great playing ... so many good clips

one thing I notice is that most people run into the brick wall of signal to noise ratio &
that's what I hear in this example

its not just an artifact of the recording but something I think Roger Mayer resolved for Hendrix
because it is the JUICY tone of all of his recordings from Bootleg to master release

I think they were getting it right from the guitar and amp

Heard Carlygtr stuff before, has it pretty nailed , style and tone.

Remember the bright cap is out of the equation once the volume pot is 8 or above. It does bring in all of the gain with a bang of it is 5k (because it is relatively non-selective in the frequencies it allow through. Now a 100pF adds a little brightness at lower volumes but I find 500pF is a bit spiky at moderate volumes particularly with split cathode, funnily enough my KT66 45/100 has 500pF and at 5 on the volume it is sweet, less than that a bit spiky and thin, so guess where I EQ the amp and use my Sequis to correct the volume  . I did try a 1500pF which was a good compromise, maybe I'll try it again.

I scored a Super Bass amp from 1970 and made a quick recording. This is with Jensen Neo speakers.

this wasn't an attempt at doing hendrix stuff but nevertheless ended up with some jimi vibe to it
