Randy Hansen

His guitar slung across his back, his dusty boots is his cadillac.

I get players coming up to compliment me, and I imagine some talk amongst themselves and think I suck, but I never hear it. I'm critical like the next guy, but I play in clubs where some guitar players only play one finger chords......Randy is very musical and nuanced in his approach.........
+1 trillion bdc, I agree, impressing other guitar players is a fruitless exercise that's for sure.. :)

I recently read that Francis Ford Coppola used Randy Hansen for the the Hendrix inspired tunage in Apocalypse Now!

I have met Randy Hansen and seen him play many times. He can play Machine Gun just like Jimi at the Fillmore all of it !!!!! He can even play the feedback like an instrument just like Jimi. He also happens to be a great person. Video does not do the man justice !!!!

I'm not gonna bag on Hansen because he plays Jimi. He does it and probably does it better than anyone else. But does he have to dress like him and all? I don't know. In general I find tribute bands cheesy.

Ditto.

I enjoy hearing someone doing that kind of thing, (playing stuff like Mr Hansen does, and hearing how close they get to sounding like someone) but dressing up like _________ (insert artist) is silly.

I can play Hendrix all day (and Night) long. I have to 'turn loose' my CHOPS in many aspects (when trying to 'summon' Hendrix), but non the less, I got that shit happening. Hendrix was more about FEELING the stuff, than trying to get technical. Hendrix could get technical though, 'cause he got some idea's from Mclaughlin ('Machine Gun').He was VERY COMPETITIVE.

I respect Hansen, because he gives MORE to the spectator/listener than just music, he really gives a PHYSICAL presence of JIMI, fuckin' ,HENDRIX !

I view him (Randy Hansen) as, like, a learning module for WHO HENDRIX was/is. I think that Hansen let's people 'experience' Hendrix better than just music alone.
