How 'bout the "Ezy Rider" effects?

His guitar slung across his back, his dusty boots is his cadillac.

This combination of effects was not available for decades. Now there are several "Thru-Zero-Flanging" units available. The first and probably best is(was) Dave Foxrox' TZF pedal, also available in stereo and special order rack versions. He's thankfully working on a new version, expected sometime soon we hope. There's also EH's "Flanger Hoax" and more recently, Strymon's "Orbit Flanger". One has to bear in mind that to get the most out of this effect you have to keep it out of your signal chain unless just jamming at home or rehearsing. For live you'll need to get the sound guy to run it through the house. If you listen to ANY of Jimi's tape flanged recordings, "House burning down, Gypsy Eyes or Axis" the whole band mix is being affected. Not that you have to make sure your drummer is also flanged but if you sincerely wish to replicate this sound you'll need it affecting the mic after your signal chain. Best when the engineer runs the entire P.A. loop mix out the mains, giving that essential panning feel to the left/right band sound. Don't try to figure it out, just make a note of it.
Yeah, definitely some light flanging going on in there for sure.

You can get a great view of his techniqiue with a Vox Wah when he is playing the beginning of Ezy Ryder at sound check on Jimi Plays Berkely. He mainly used Vox Clyde McCoy script and picture wahs. Sounds like he has a Si fuzzface kicked on also.
