What Fuzz Face at Woodstock?

His guitar slung across his back, his dusty boots is his cadillac.

What Fuzz Face at Woodstock?

My favorite Hendrix tone is the sound he got at Woodstock. Do any of you guys know or have an educated guess as to whether or not it was a silicon or germanium Fuzz Face? Obviously there are a lot of other factors in the equation but I am curious about this in particular.

Nice! I have two Fulltone '69 fuzzes so I'm glad to see that he is using that. I agree that he pretty much nailed it.

Should give a try at the Roger Mayer axis fuzz, but yes Fuzz Face do it well too :)

A clue to the type fuzz it is is listen to what it sounds like/ interacts when he hits the wah pedal. If it was a silicon fuzz, it would howl like a banshee ala Isle Of Wight, Rainbow Bridge, Atlanta Pop, etc. it doesn't. It doesn't sound like the Axis either, which leads me to believe it's a ge fuzz into a slightly distorting amp

I just re watched my Woodstock DVD. The Fuzz Face is orange (very rare) and has white knobs. This must be modified to some degree and during one song Jimi kicks it in and in another turns it off.
It definitely has a lot of bass and mids to my ears.
