I came across this guy Steve Webb last year on You Tube, he does all eras of Jimi and this version of Power of Soul I like a lot, he uses a '69 Plexi I believe:

And no notched frets as far as I can tell

Re: Steve Webb great Hendrix covers
He is using a 69 Super Bass IIRC and with EL34s. However, it was set very clean and all the distortion came from two different fuzzes/distortions, and a reverb and EQ at the end. It sounds very good, but it is of course nothing like Hendrix' chain and setup. He did turn me on to the underrated 70s Strats though...if you find a good one, it can be an excellent deal. I got a '74/75 exactly like the one he is using (black/maple), and it was miles better than the CS guitar I had previously.
JTM45 RS OT, 1973 18W, JTM45/100, JTM50, JMP50 1986, JMP100 "West Coast", AC15, AC30, BF Super Reverb, Boogie Mk 1, Hiwatt CP103, DR103

Re: Steve Webb great Hendrix covers
Thanks for the replies and the link to the previous thread. Steve sounds different than Randy Hansen and his seventies Strat definitely helps with his tone.
I enjoy his playing a lot and that he covers most all of the different Hendrix eras!
Love coming back to Metro forum such knowledable members here.
